Jetting off to far-flung destinations is looking less and less over the coming months but it does not mean that summer has been cancelled, so here at Saltee we are looking a little closer to home for our holiday inspiration. We have teamed up with Lime Wood Hotel to find out more about their beautiful outdoor spaces, perfect for alfresco dining this April.
The New Forest might conjure up images of roaming ponies, cream teas and camping trips of days gone by, but nestled right in the heart of this historic landscape in Hampshire is a hideaway country house surrounded by ancient woodland that is all about those laid-back luxury holiday vibes – it’s the perfect secluded staycation escape!
Lime Wood is a luxury hotel and spa that opened nearly 12 years ago, and over this time has very much established itself as the ultimate countryside getaway…and this summer we cannot wait to check in!
Renowned female chef Angela Hartnett and Lime Wood’s Luke Holder do the cooking, pulling together both of their much-admired signature styles and Italian influences, to create Hartnett Holder & Co, Lime Wood’s relaxed Italian restaurant and designed over three levels, the Herb House Spa, tucked away in the gardens, is dedicated to natural well-being – a serious chilling retreat.
It is is all about feeling good here – whatever that means for you! Whether it is a day of total relaxation and pampering in the Herb House spa, spending time in the great outdoors, curling up with a great book whilst everything else is taken care of for a while or tucking into something seriously indulgent, you can do it all.
All winter long we have been dreaming of sitting outdoors with food, friends and a glass of something chilled….and now, can you actually believe it…we can do just that! So, to transport you to sunnier climes (even if our British weather requires us to have a little imagination) Lime Wood will be opening their terraces for outdoor dining from 12th April.
Perhaps no one enjoys outdoor dining quite as much as the Italians do, so this April it is not only their food that will be Italian-influenced – Hartnett Holder & Co is going alfresco! There will be canvas awnings, heaters, fire pits and blankets and a pop-up outdoor bar so that you can enjoy an Aperol Spritz before lunch.
Angela and Luke have created a very simple spring 3 course Lunch Menu, expect light and fresh flavours, flame cooked fish and meats, classic home-made pasta dishes and baked pizzas and a tasty pud or two to finish it off, all inspired by alfresco piazza lunches – simple, easy and designed with outdoor eating in mind.
So, we might not be able to pack our bags and head off the sunshine anytime soon, but if you are a looking for a little dose of feel-good fun then we will see you on the terrace at
